Young inventor scoops £30,000
TEENAGE inventor Joseph Weaver is sitting pretty after scooping the £30,000 first prize in a national design competition.
The 16-year-old student at The Ridings' Federation Winterbourne International Academy saw off competition from over 700 entrants to be crowned national winner of The Dream Lab contest with his design for a cuddly car seat accessory called The Snug Hug.

Joseph has also won himself an internship with designer Trevor Baylis, doing work experience for Trevor Baylis Brands and bedding giant Sound Asleep.
The competition was judged by Ortis Deley, presenter of The Gadget Show and Trevor Baylis.
Joseph said: "I'm absolutely amazed to have won this competition."
Twenty thousand pounds of Joseph's prize money will go to his school, Winterbourne International Academy.
Tarquin Gillespie, Joseph's design and technology teacher, commented: "We're absolutely delighted with Joseph's outstanding achievement. The prize money will benefit the school and all its pupils enormously."
Sound Asleep, which is creating the original 'speaker pillow', said it is considering putting The Snug Hug into production.
