Dagger was one of the longest standing members of GWR, a stalwart who had been on the club's committee for many years and who worked tirelessly for more than a quarter of a century on behalf of the running community in the Bristol area.

He especially had a track record in supporting young people in their running. The Fund's Mission is to support young people in Avon to develop their talents and improve their competitive running.

For the second year in a row, Bristol & West AC's Kate Goodhead finished runner-up in the senior women's race at the Gloucestershire Cross Country Championships.

Top local high jumper Adam Wall has joined Bristol & West AC from Yate & District AC to strengthen the club's British League side.

Wall was ranked second in the South West while still under-20 and won the bronze medal at the 2012 England Indoor Championships.

Steve Mitchell clocked 8mins 34.36secs to finish ninth in the 3000m at the British Milers' Club Indoor Championships, in Sheffield, on Sunday.

Entries are now open for the ninth Hogweed Hilly Half marathon on Sunday, March 3.

The race HQ is located at Horton Village Hall and there is a limit of 350 competitors. Entries close on the February 28 or when the limit is reached. Further information and entry forms are available from visiting http://www.hogweedtrotters.co.uk.

Great to see North Somerset AC endurance coach Steve Hollier leading by example in the South West Championships on Sunday as he finished 73rd overall and top veteran over 60.
