Grays Athletic 2 Forest Green Rovers 1: Inexperience proved to be Forest Green's downfall in Essex, as a shadow side tasted final-day defeat.

With Hartpury College trio James Baldwin, Ben Pugh and Jon Else all making full debuts, and joined by three fellow students as second-half substitutes, Rovers were unable to build on Andy Mangan's 26th-minute penalty.

Stuart Thurgood and Tyrone Berry netted twice in the space of a minute after the break to turn it around for Grays Athletic.

Rovers deserved the opportunity to go ahead from the spot after a Thurgood handball.

Mangan, who ends the season as the league's top scorer, coolly finished for his 30th goal in all competitions.

The hosts finally got their deserved breakthrough in the 69th minute, Thurgood muscling his way through to finish emphatically.

A minute later it was 2-1, as Thurgood turned provider with a cross from the right and substitute Berry poked home at the far post.
