Young Bristol golfer Carson misses out
Teenage Bristol golf prospect Adam Carson failed to progress from the First Stage of European Tour Qualifying School this week after a final round of level par 72.
Carson, from Long Ashton GC, finished the four-round tournament tied 42nd on one over par, five shots short of a place in the Q School Second Stage in Spain in November.
But the 17-year-old refused to be disappointed. "What I've learned here is that I'm not far short of the players who did make it to Second Stage and that gives me some confidence," he said.
"I felt like I was playing well enough, but I didn't hole enough putts and played a few bad shots at the wrong time.
"The only problem at the moment is that in terms of length off the tee, I'm 20 yards or so short. But that will improve as I get older."
