BRISTOL City midfielder Gavin Williams is expected to complete a loan move to Yeovil Town today.

The former Glovers man failed to make the squad for City's last Championship encounter at Ipswich almost a fortnight ago and is likely to agree a month-long deal at Huish Park.

Williams was on-loan at Yeovil towards the end of last season and manager Terry Skiverton enquired about bringing the Welshman back earlier in the current campaign – but was rebuffed on that occasion.

However, City boss Keith Millen, has several players returning from injury and is understood to have sanctioned the move in order for Williams to get games.

Millen said: "We need to get some players out to get games because we have a big squad now. I'm delighted that everyone is nearing full fitness, but we can't keep everyone happy.

"A few players need to get first-team games under their belt and they won't get the chance to do that here at the moment."

Williams is expected to go straight into the Yeovil squad for their home game with Tranmere on Saturday.

Millen, meanwhile, is still looking to bolster his squad after admitting that talks had taken place over a possible loan signing.

"There has been some talk over a possible deal," Millen said. "If a player becomes available who we think will improve the squad then we will look at it.

"It's an ongoing thing. There could be some movement both ways in the next few days."

Millen will also soon be able to call on the services of Wolves striker Sam Vokes, who injured his hamstring 10 minutes into his City debut in August.

The Wales international returned to Molineux for a rehabilitation period just days after agreeing a five-month loan switch to Ashton Gate, but has returned to light training and is expected to be ready for a return in around a month.

"I've been outside doing a bit of jogging this week and it's nice to be out of the gym," said Vokes.

"The loan runs to January, so I think the plan is to go back to Bristol City. The long term plan is to get some experience at Bristol.

"I haven't played a great deal of games in the last year or so and if I can do that then I can hopefully come back a stronger player for it.

"It's been three-and-a-half weeks since I have been back here (Wolves) and it will probably be the same again before I am back. I'm making good progress."

City return to action with a trip to Scunthorpe on Saturday following the international break and Millen is hoping midfielder Cole Skuse will return to the squad after missing the Ipswich game with a knee injury.

Striker Danny Haynes completed 62 minutes for the reserves at Paulton on Tuesday night but is still short of match fitness following a two-month absence.

Defender Lewin Nyatanga has also returned to training.

“Robin, are you having a laugh? When fit (I know that is not often) Gavin is a brilliant midfield player with a touch and poise on the ball that few have had in my 35 years of watching City. A fit Gavin Williams would be in my team every week!”

“I have to admit, i find this odd. I think Williams is a decent player, yet for some reason he never gets a decent run out.

Lets hope he comes back fit and raring to go, as i think he is an asset to the squad and is more than capable of opening teams up.”
