YEOVIL TOWN boss Russell Slade heads for Carlisle United

tomorrow determined to banish memories of last season's

heart-breaking defeat at Brunton Park.

A stoppage time goal by Scott Dobie consigned the Glovers to

a 2-1 defeat there in April as Slade's men battled to avoid

relegation. This year Yeovil are unbeaten in League One and

sixth in the table.

"It was more than cruel because they didn't deserve it,"

said Slade, pictured, of Dobie's goal. "We had done more than

enough to get a draw. They scored two late goals and one of

them was very late.

"We lost Marc Bircham because he had done his stint and we

just got a little unsettled at the end but we deserved

something at least."

Both teams will be looking to recover from Carling Cup

defeats – Yeovil 5-1 at Middlesbrough and Carlisle 4-0 at

Queens Park Rangers.

"It is important we bounce back and I am sure John (Ward,

Carlisle's manager) will be stressing to his team that they

bounce back so it will be a big game for both teams. No one

will want to give any ground.

"I like John. We get on very well. He took over at Carlisle

when they were in a good situation and will be a bit

disappointed they didn't progress in the play-offs.

"But it is a new campaign now and they have made a good

start again. Going to Carlisle is always a difficult place to

go and a difficult place to get a win."

Winger Aidan Downes (knee) is set to be out for up to a

month with medial knee ligament damage. Slade had hoped shin

injury-victim Danny Schofield would be fit for the Carlisle

trip but that is not the case and he may have to go for a scan

on the problem.

So Crystal Palace youngster James Dayton and Crewe

midfielder Gary Roberts look set to start in Cumbria.

"Nathan Smith (groin) is 50-50," added Slade. "We will have

to wait up until the last minute to see who is definitely

fit."

Slade expects the transfer window to close on Monday without

many movement in or out of Huish Park.

"I am happy with the nucleus of the squad," he said. "It is

very thin obviously and if we lose any through injuries that is

difficult to compensate for.

"It is hard on us when we lose our two wide men."
