Yatton take their chances in hard-fought derby game
YATTON made the short trip to Weston's Recreation ground and came away with a 22-5 victory, producing a fine display of 15-man running rugby.
With both teams coming into this contest with unblemished league records, someone's record had to go and it was the home side that were left to rue missed opportunities – while the visitors took theirs with ruthless efficiency to claim the spoils.

Yatton's magnificent win saw them leapfrog Weston to take over the top spot in the Bristol Combination Colts league.
Weston head coach Chris Heath couldn't hide his frustration afterwards. He said: "We just didn't take our chances. We missed several kicks at goal and must have had 80 per cent of possession in the second half.
"We were camped on their line but we couldn't quite get over to score. We just seemed to do the wrong thing at the wrong time, but fair play to Yatton they deserved to win because they were the better unit on the day."
On another day the Seasiders might have come out on top as they completely dominated their neighbours in the opening 10-minutes and only heroic defending kept the home side at bay.
But Yatton weathered the storm and mounted a counter-attack, which ended with wing Liam Chambers racing in from 20-metres to score the opening try. Scrum-half George Osbourne, who put in a man of the match display and helped himself to 12 points on the day, landed the conversion.
Weston found themselves back behind their own posts almost immediately when, from their long re-start the visitors mounted another handling attack. The move ended with Osbourne touching down for a converted try, leaving the hosts in a state of shock, trailing 14-0 after just 13-minutes.
Weston came back into the contest with a try from wing Robbie Hazzard and started to gain ascendancy in the tight exchanges with skipper Justin Beardon leading from the front.
The big No 8, who was at the heart of everything for Weston, combined well with Ollie Trott, who had a lively game at scrum-half and both look real prospects for the future.
But the visitors played with more enterprise, mixing up the line-out and taking quick tap penalties and drop-outs to keep the home side guessing.
Joe Patrick showed his versatility for Yatton by playing at No 8 before seamlessly switching to the centre position where he partnered the elusive Taylor Paris in the midfield.
And it was Paris who claimed the try of the match 29 minutes into the second half.
Yatton again ran out of defence from their own 22. Paris made the initial burst before feeding Chambers who didn't quite have the pace to go all the way. He flipped the ball back inside to the Canadian exchange student Paris, who managed to stay in support to finish things off.
The last score went to Osbourne who landed a 40-metre penalty to wrap up the win for the visitors.Yatton coach John Semmence said: "Weston had a lot of the ball but when we did go into their territory we came away with points. It was a tight game and we are just happy to get the win."
