Yate sweep to top spot
Gloucestershire County Youth League: Yate Town moved to the summit of the Gloucestershire County Youth League with a crucial 2-1 victory over previously-unbeaten Forest Green Rovers.
They had to do it the hard way, too, after Rovers had taken the lead through Leon Jones.
Yate missed a penalty but equalised when striker George Brimson put away another spot-kick. And it was Brimson who struck the winner two minutes from time.
The victory put Yate above Wotton Rovers, who have two games in hand but haven't played for more than a month due to the bad weather.
Only one other match was played at the weekend because of the bad weather, Cadbury Heath winning 4-1 at Thornbury Town.
The victory was sweet revenge for Heath, who had twice 1-0 at home to Thornbury in league and cup games this season.
The goals came from Billy Hodge, Kyle Tooze, Ben Lear and James Hubbard.
The victory means Heath are now firmly back among the group chasing hard at the top of the table.
