Yate Town's play-off hopes suffer a setback
Yate Town's superb run of form in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South & West came to an end tonight with a 3-1 defeat away to mid-table Sholing.
Rob Cousins' team had surged up the table in the past two months and were hoping to move within one point of the last play-off place with a win against Sholing.
But even though Karim Rendall gave Yate a second-minute lead, the visitors were soon 2-1 down after Byron Mason scored in the 11th minute and Tyronne Bowers netted a 17th-minute penalty. Sholing's victory was sealed by Barry Mason's 78th-minute strike.
In the Toolstation League Premier Division tonight, Bitton gained an impressive 1-0 away win against Buckland Athletic, but Winterbourne United went down 2-1 at home to Gillingham Town.
