Paul Dempsey believes Yate Town's future is safe in the hands of their young guns.

The reserve-team chief, whose side are in derby action at Chipping Sodbury Town on Saturday, says he and youth-team bosses Rob Hughes and Gary Powell are determined to play a part in the club's future, despite the turmoil surrounding Yate's relegation-threatened first team.

Dempsey maintained: "Rob and Gary make it easy for me because they have so many good young players, versatile lads like Carl Lakey who are all desperate to make it to the first team. Many of them play for me in the reserves and it is these guys who can get the club thriving again."

Chipping Sodbury, who face five of their former comrades, will give home debuts to George Hemmings and Lee Pendrey but Lloyd Harding is suspended and Craig Harding has a broken arm.

Henbury boss Jairzinho Wright is backing Shane Hobbs to continue his lethal form in front of goal.

The one-time Taunton Town and Clevedon Town ace fired a hat-trick in last weekend's 3-1 win at Ellwood and Wright, who is without striker Jermaine Wright and midfielders Craig Hobbs and Gary Clark for the home match with Highridge, said: "He's in great form; if he and the others continue playing as they are we have a great chance of winning this league."

With Mike Morris, Ian Burnell, Chris Sage and Phil Sergeant all unavailable, Chris Williams and Aaron Day join the travelling B & W Avonside squad preparing to face a Hanham Athletic side who give reserve-team trio Rich Grinter, Matt Walker and Leigh Andrews another game.

Relegation rivals DRG Stapleton are at Berkeley Town.

Winger Sam Reeves, who recently signed from Olveston United, is set to make his debut for Thornbury Town at home to high-flying Ellwood.

"We lost to them earlier in the season and we haven't played a better team since," Thornbury manager Dave Lippiatt acknowledged.

Big centre-half Matt Tottle retains his place at the back for Patchway Town as they look to steady the ship at home to Bishop's Cleeve Reserves following their recent 7-2 home humiliation by DRG. Town supremo Matthew Webb admitted: "We were shocking in that game but we improved a lot to get a point at Avonside last Saturday and we want more of that attitude tomorrow."
