They arrested the man and woman and took them to the town's general hospital to be x-rayed.
Four packages were found inside the man, which were later confirmed to be heroin.
Nearly £2,000 in cash was also found in the flat.
Two people have been charged with possessing a class A drug with intent to supply drugs and are now due to appear before magistrates.
Chief Superintendent Julian Moss said: "Dealing drugs doesn't pay. What it can earn you is a very hefty prison sentence and a significant fine. Our financial investigation team can also strip drug dealers of any assets that have been obtained using money earned illegally."
Anyone with information about drug dealing in their neighbourhood should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
