X Factor Star Turns on Shopping Centre Christmas Lights

Over six thousand people witnessed this year's Cribbs Causeway's Christmas light switch on with guest appearance from X Factor sensation Olly Murs last night.

Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer began queuing as early as 6am.

Olly Murs switched on the Christmas lights before performing on stage and showing fans his football skills. 

Despite the cold weather, fans enjoyed a fantastic performance by the X Factor winner. The rain held off and the audience's focus was on the action on the stage.

Support act, Young Kato, from Cheltenham beat off other local competition for the opportunity to perform at the Olly Murs concert in a battle of the bands style contest.

The indie band could've have passed as professionals and despite the pressure to entertain before Olly Murs' guest appearance was highly commendable. 

Young Kato received great applause and appreciation, warming up the audience for the main headliner to come on. 

After the concert, people were invited to the opening of the Winter Wonderland which features a Santa's grotto, traders and an ice rink as part of the attraction. 

Overall, the evening was enjoyed by many people of all ages despite the wintery weather. 

Heart FM hosted the successful event and Stage Electrics provided the staging, electrics and the ice rink in the Winter Wonderland. 

The Winter Wonderland will be open throughout Christmas until 8th January 2012.
