Wright leads the gold rush as she lands a sprint double at South West schools finals
EMILY Wright produced a stunning display of sprinting to win two gold medals at the South West Schools' Track & Field Championships in Exeter.
The 13-year-old, pictured, was in sparkling form clocking a legal personal best of 12.16secs in the junior girls' 100m and also a PB of 25.45secs in the 200m.

Remarkably, her time in the short sprint puts her top of the UK Rankings for under-15 girls and must make her a genuine contender for a medal at the English Schools' Championships in Gateshead at the end of next week.
"We are both really happy with the time, especially as it was just inside the legal wind limit," said Wright's coach Dean Garrett.

"All of Emily's training has been geared towards reaching her peak for the South West and then the English Schools' Championships and she has been working hard.
"She is No 1 in the UK for 100m and eighth in the 200m but her priority is the 100m and she definitely has a chance of winning a medal in Gateshead, although I wouldn't like to say which colour."
Wright's two golds were among 15 won by Avon athletes at the championships on Saturday. Also in the sprints, fellow county sprinter Kwame Fordwar won the senior boys' 100m – and added a second in the sprint relay – and Eliza Reid won the inter girls' 200m. Livia Gauntell was in a class of her own in the junior girls' sprint hurdles.
Training partners Josh Evans and Rob Phillips continued their good seasons with wins in the inter boys' 400m and 400m hurdles events respectively and then linked up with Luke Lorenzi and Ben Watt to win the 4x100m relay.
In the middle distances, training partners Olivia Sadler and Lily Owsley dominated the senior girls' 1500m and 800 races and George Chapman won the inter boys' 800m. In the field, there were wins for James Diamond (long jump), Sam Boulton (discus) and Hannah Grubb (pole vault). In addition Avon athletes won 16 other medals – seven silvers and nine bronzes – and many others made the top six.
