Woolley's a winner
Match Lake was not at its best, considering the bright, hot conditions, and 66-14-0 of carp was enough to give Martin Woolley a comfortable victory in the Carpenters Arms 2,000 AC match, fished at Landsend Fisheries.
He poled paste over a cupped-in slime paste feed at 16 metres into the right-hand margins of corner peg 12 for carp to 8lb.
Second place was taken by Paul Wilcox, who poled slime paste at 13.5 metres off peg 22 for a 10-carp catch totalling 43-10-0. And that beat PR officer Paul Foxhall into third place with a five-carp catch of 27-6-0, taken from peg three with 6mm banded pellet.
Phil Groves topped the silverfish category at peg 20, where he poled caster at 13 metres to the bottom of the island shelf to tempt 21-10-0 of skimmers, bream, tench, perch, ide and roach.
Overall: 1, Martin Woolley 66-14-0, peg 12; 2, Paul Wilcox 43-10-0, peg 22; 3, Paul Foxhall 27-6-0, peg 3; 4, Phil Groves 27-2-0, peg 20; 5, Neil Carter 26-0-0, peg 7; 6, Paul Swain 24-3-0, peg 18. Silverfish: 1, Phil Groves 21-10-0, peg 20.
