The woman police are hunting over the death of 11-year-old Sam Riddall in Bristol has been spotted in the city, but has not yet been found.

Detectives said today there had been a number of sightings of Hannah Saaf in the Bristol area.

Yesterday, a picture of the 27-year-old, also known as Hannah Jewell, was released.

Avon and Somerset police want to speak to her in connection with the hit-and-run death of Sam Riddall last Friday night in Eastfield Road, Westbury-on-Trym.

Police spokeswoman Claire Giordmaine said: "There have been reported sightings of her in the Bristol area and police would appeal for her to come forward to help with their enquiries.

"Hannah is the registered keeper of the car involved in the collision, registration number X391 NOK. She is described as slim and around 5ft 9ins tall.

"Police need to speak to her as a matter of urgency and there are concerns for her welfare."

Sam, 11, died at Bristol Children's Hospital after being hit by the car at around 9.15pm on Friday.

Hannah has previous connections to Bristol, Taunton, Glastonbury, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and London.

Police are appealing for Hannah, or any witnesses, to contact Bristol CID on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0845 555 111.

“It's hard not to judge when such an avoidable tragedy has happened. Witnesses did say she banged her head. It is difficult to comprehend that any decent human's response was not to rush to try an help Sam, but was to run away. We all like to think we would do the right thing, however how do any of us really know how we'd react in such horrific circumstances. What concerns me more is that she hasn't come forward 6 days later. Again we don't actually know why? she may actually be mentally unstable, be in harm? who knows. Hannah if you are able to read this, do the right thing give yourself up, don't make Sam's parent go through an appeal, they are broken and adding to their pain is beyond cruelty.”

“i truly hope the family of that poor child are not reading any of these comments - it would appear that some think this is a laughing matter- IT IS NOT. There are some sick individuals using this site that dont seem to realise the gravity of the subject they are commenting on.”

“Something don't seem right here, She kills someone and then goes into hiding. With her having a estate car I'm guessing she has a family so if she doesn then surely she would want to see justice served if it were to happen to her children.

Maybe she was over teh drink drive limit or had taken drugs so she is hiding until she thinks it is out of her system.

She could actually be reading this now. If it was my child this had happened to I would be on them streets searching for her all day and night and god help her if I found her before the police.

Why did these people that saw her not perform a citizens arrest?”

“At the begining you have to give her the benefit of innocent till proven guilty, but now after 4-5 days and being named she has had plenty of time to come forward, even if she is abroad on holiday a friend would have told the police and contacted her about what was happening.
why hide if you are innocent.”

“Ian, the earlier report stated bleached blonde so think that your point is a bit of a red herring... however your point stands... lets all hold our horses a little here. She is entitled to the opportunity to demonstrate here innocence... something we have no right to deny her.”

“If I were her I would give myself up in China or Tibet. Far safer than in Bristol.”
