A WOMAN has been dragged into a car and raped by two men, say police.

The 24-year-old was walking along Fulford Road in Hartcliffe when she was pulled into a red car and attacked before struggling free and escaping in the direction of Hawkfield Road.

Police yesterday revealed details of the attack, which happened between 3am and 4am on Sunday. They say one of the men had a distinctive black teardrop tattoo under his right eye, while the other had a mole or tattoo on his left cheek.

Police said the woman was walking in the direction of Hawkfield Road when she noticed a red Ford Fiesta or similar car, with a large exhaust, parked opposite the Fulford Arms pub. She was grabbed as she walked past the car.

The attacker with the teardrop tattoo was white, in his early 30s and stocky, with short ginger hair. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a black short-sleeved top.

The other man was of mixed race, in his early 30s, tall and skinny, with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue Rockport jumper.

Police say they have increased the number of patrols in the area following the attack.

Detective Inspector Mike Buck said: "This was an isolated incident in which a lone woman was targeted by these men and subjected to a violent attack.

"I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about this incident, or the people who committed this crime to come forward and contact us in confidence."

Mr Buck said he was particularly keen to speak to a man who helped the victim after she sought refuge from her attackers in his garden, a few streets away.

Anyone with information should call detectives at Operation Bluestone on 101 quoting crime reference number 120550/12 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
