Woman in her 80s assaulted by intruders who burgled her house in Birchwood Road, Broom Hill
A WOMAN in her 80s was threatened and assaulted by a group of men before they burgled her home in Broom Hill.
The incident happened at 10.45am on Tuesday when between two and four men called at the house in Birchwood Road.

They threatened and assaulted the woman who was at home at the time and stole cash and a cheque book.
It is believed the men arrived and left in a silver BMW.

Police spokesman Martin Dunscombe told The Post the victim was “extremely traumatised” by the incident and is currently be supported by her family.
She was checked by a doctor and will have no lasting physical injuries.
He added: “Police quickly attended the address and remain at the scene this morning (Wednesday).
“House-to-house enquiries are being completed along with forensic examination of the scene.”
