Stewart Jones has held his hands up to Winterbourne United's early-season Hellenic League woes but claimed: "We can get it right in the new year".

The Division One West champions sit in mid-table and trail leaders Hardwicke by 19 points ahead of tomorrow's home match with Pewsey Vale.

And Jones, who can recall Ben Walker, Dean Kingman and Grant Gordon to his squad, accepted: "We've only ourselves to blame and, considering the strength of our squad, we have definitely underachieved. Mistakes have cost us dear but there's another half of the season to go."

Tytherington Rocks' cause is not being helped by persistent injuries.

Barry Granger's young guns entertain mid-table Easington Sports without injured youngsters Rob Cave (full-back) and Mark Greenland (striker), while goalkeeper Rob Dent is sidelined with a groin complaint.

Steve Peglar returns from injury to deputise for Dent, while midfielder Luke Garbacz should be back.

Granger conceded: "It's been a disruptive time but given we're such an inexperienced team, I've been pleased with how they've coped."

Paul Weeks insisted Almondsbury Town have a "massive opportunity" to build on their current sixth place with three straight home games, starting against Marlow United tomorrow.

Three consecutive wins has raised Oaklands Park expectations, although boss Paul Weeks stressed: "While the quality is undoubtedly there, my biggest worry is that we drop our guard against lesser sides. If we can produce the right work ethic we can enjoy a great second half to the season."
