Gloucestershire County Youth League: Winterbourne United were on the receiving end of a 9-0 thumping by Yate Town.

It was the most goals any side has scored in one game in the league in more than a decade.

The win kept Yate top of the table and sent Winterbourne back to the bottom on goal difference.

It took only a minute for the victors to open the scoring and they led 5-0 at half-time.

To compound Winterbourne's misery, two of their players were treated following a clash of heads. Jensen Mannings resumed almost immediately but Chris Iles was still off the field, having a cut bandaged, when Yate struck again.

Troy Budd led the rout with four goals, while Alex Lambert (2), Nuno Felix (2) and substitute Tom Murray were also on the scoresheet.

Forest Green Rovers fought out a 0-0 draw at home to Gala Wilton and will need to win all their games in hand to challenge Yate for the title.

Thornbury Town beat injury-hit visitors Longwell Green Sports 3-0 with two Matt Weeks goals and a Steve Nash strike.
