Wincombe on top in plate
Winscombe Under-15s recorded an emphatic 47-12 victory over Nailsea & Backwell to march into the next round of the Combination plate competition.
Tries by Sam Balkham (2) Chris Spittal (2) Eddie Farmer, Nick Thompson and Dan Bond saw them home with Robbie Mackay slotting six conversions.
Their Under-13s also managed a victory over Chew Valley 13-0. Tom Cooksley and Jack Hodson bagged tries, while Brady Woods kicked a penalty and a conversion.
An in-form Whitehall Under-16s saw off Avonmouth 36-0. Mitchell Gorwell, was again on the score sheet, crossing for two tries along with Jake Hollis, Cameron Pollard, Ashley George and Lewis Trott. Alex Carter popped over three conversions for the Speedwell club.
Four tries by Morgan Dodds and one each for Luke Burgete and Bailey Fisher secured Old Reds Under-14s side a place in the next round of the cup as they overcame Old Bristolians 36-17 in a well-contested fixture. Dodds also added three conversions on his way to an impressive 26-point haul for the Brislington club.
Gordano Under-12s travelled to Burnham and returned home having not conceded a point. Zach Wall and Shay Ford both scored try doubles and Kieran Avery and Drum McMillian also got in on the act for the Portbury club with five conversions coming from the reliable boot of Sam Hodges.
Cleve Under-14s battled to the end against Wooton Bassett but eventually went down 21-14. Cleve had the better of the first half and led through tries by centre Jaid Wiltshire and scrum-half Matty Atkins, both converted by Tom Cox but they couldn't hold off the visitor's late comeback. Jack Bennett was in great form for the Mangotsfield club.
Cheddar Under-14s extended their unbeaten run to seven in a hard-fought game against St Bernadette's.
The Somerset side outscored their Bristol opponents four tries to one with Kieron Gibson, James Branigan, Dan Crane and Stan Smith scoring for Cheddar while Louis Talbot replied for the visitors.
A passionate defensive effort saw St Mary's Under-14s home 20-7 against local rivals Cleve. Saints try scorers were Davey Wilkinson-Lessels, Corey Fieldhouse and Luke Bishop while Freddie Foley kicked a conversion,'
