South West Centre trial championship leader Ricky Wiggins is poised to take the lead in the Expert B class in the National Championships in the third round at the St David's trophy event near Neath on Sunday.

After the first two rounds, Yeovil rider Wiggins is just two points behind Sam Ludgate, whose father, Chris, was a regular award winner in Wessex Centre events three decades ago.

Two points separate Sam Connor and Ian Austermuhle in the A class, while former world champion Doug Lampkin trails six points behind James Dabill.

The North Somerset club have a full entry for their two-hour timed and observation event at Fairy Hill, near Compton Dando, the same day.

On current form, Paul Baber and Tom Smith start as pre-event favourites, but with Adrian Dark, Paul Manning, Tim and Jeremy Walters in the line-up, they will not have an easy task.
