Weston-super-Mare 1 Hayes & Yeading United 2: Weston's injury woes continued as they conceded two goals in two second-half minutes against their promotion-chasing visitors.

Already without Mike Green, Craig Rand, Scott Bartlett, Marc McGregor and Manny Williams, the Seagulls lost Dayle Grubb and Tom Parrinello before the interval.

The hosts included on-loan Swindon defender Thomas Evans and Bristol Rovers wideman Matt Groves, and it was Evans who gave them the lead in the 29th minute.

Ben Wells' free-kick was knocked across the goal by Charlie Comyn-Platt, playing his last game for the club before moving to Australia, and Evans was on hand to hook the ball past goalkeeper Delroy Preedie.

A minute later, Wells' swerving volley grazed the outside of Preedie's far post from Parrinello's quick throw.

Hayes' best chance of the half fell to Steve Gregory, who forced a flying save from Ryan Northmore with a 30-yard effort on 41 minutes.

It all began to go wrong for Weston three minutes into the second half, when Northmore was deceived by Staforde Palmer's cross from the right, which went over his head and into the top corner.

It got worse two minutes later when in a scramble from a Palmer corner, referee Lee Swabey awarded a penalty for an alleged handball, even though there was no protest from the visitors and the only arm raised was Northmore's. Northmore dived to save Will Hendry's spot-kick, but Palmer netted the rebound and there was to be no way back for the home side.

Weston tried hard to get back in the game, with Scott Partridge's 62nd-minute shot saved and Adi Harris shooting over with a free-kick three minutes from full-time.
