Weston-super-Mare boss Craig Laird lands Spaniard Alando
Promotion-chasing Weston-super-Mare have boosted their Blue Square South play-off hopes by signing Spanish midfielder Anton Alvarez Alando until the end of the season.
But the former Athletico Bilbao player is still awaiting international clearance and is unlikely to feature in tonight's rearranged West Country derby against Bath City at the Woodspring Stadium.
Alando is no stranger to Seagulls boss Craig Laird, having played under him at Bridgwater Town while studying on a degree course at the University of West of England four years ago.
He recently returned to the UK to take a job in London and made contact with Laird immediately.

"I knew I wanted him to play for me again as soon as I heard he was back," revealed Laird, whose team currently occupies the fourth and final play-off berth.
"Alando is a really good lad and will fit in well here. As you would expect from a Spaniard, he is very good technically. But he also works hard and, although not the biggest, is prepared to get stuck in."
Alando is expected to make his debut in Saturday's Blue Square South fixture at Hayes & Yeading.
Meanwhile, Laird will select from a full-strength squad as he attempts to plot a second victory over Bath in the space of a fortnight.
