Weston-super-Mare Grand Pier Half Marathon results: Victory for Stuart Leaney
Stuart Leaney won the first ever Weston-super-Mare Grand Pier Half Marathon in torrential rain yesterday morning.
The Chippenham runner crossed the finish line at the Grand Pier in a time of 1hr 11mins 42secs, almost a minute clear of runner-up Damian Carr (1:12:41).
Michael Robinson completed the top three in a time of 1:13:59, while Liz Wiggins was the fastest woman in a time of 1:28:55 which earned her 27th overall.
There were more than 400 finishers in the race, organised by Freak Events in association with the town's Grand Pier, and the runners had to contend with some appalling conditions.
