Weston-super-Mare's good run of form came to an end tonight with a 4-1 defeat at home to Bath City, who halted their poor run of results with a first victory in six Blue Square South matches.

Weston were looking for a quickfire double over their West Country rivals, having triumphed 2-1 in Bath on Boxing Day.

But Bath went 2-0 up inside 14 minutes thanks to goals from Tom Nichols and Charlie Griffin and, although Ross Stearn pulled one back in the 28th minute, the visitors went on to complete their win with strikes from Josh Low, on 73 minutes, and Mike Stephenson, shortly before the end.

In the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South & West, Yate Town continued their surge up the table with a 3-1 home success against Cirencester Town.

Mitchell Page and Scott Wilson put Yate 2-0 up at the break and Matt Groves made it 3-0 before Sam Collier scored late on for Cirencester. Yate are now up to 11th in the table.
