Weston's Grand Pier could be illuminated
This is how Weston-super-Mare's Grand Pier will look at night under £30-million plans to create a new pavilion.
More than 100,000 tiny LED lights will provide the striking green and blue display.
The planned 85-metre observation tower will also be illuminated if the owners' plans are approved by councillors next month.
The final cost of the proposed lighting scheme will be around £1m but the low-energy lights are expected to save money in the long term.
A further £8-9m is being spent on attractions, which will include Robocoaster, a giant robotic arm ride, a surf ride along a motorised wave and a dragster, both on the pier roof walkway.
Co-owner Kerry Michael said: "We are very keen to get going on site as soon as possible to ensure we achieve a re-opening in time for the summer season 2010."
The planning application will go before the North Somerset councillors at Weston Town Hall on March 12.
