Weston anthem set for summer dance re-mix
A SONG written about the delights of Weston-super-Mare is to be re-mixed by a record label – with hopes it could become a universal hit.
Yorkshire based record label Leopard Music is considering remixing the track It's Summer, Welcome to Weston, written by fundraiser Paul Hobbs, and re-releasing it this summer.
Mr Hobbs, who has a publishing contract with Leopard Music, says some of the lyrics will be changed and the song, which was first released in 2011, revamped.
It is hoped the song, which will have a new video to accompany it, will be a hit on the club scene.

Mr Hobbs, 63, said: "The song started as a way of promoting Weston and could now become a summer hit across the world. The record label see the re-mixed song as having potential to be a hit worldwide and they hope to have it ready for the summer."
The song, which features lyrics about the Grand Pier, donkeys, the beach and the Playhouse and Winter Gardens, was a hit locally and featured on local tourism websites.
The news the song is to be remixed comes just weeks after leading German publisher of English coursebooks for schools in Germany, Cornelsen Schulverlage, revealed it was to feature the song in a new book about seaside resorts around the world.
Over the last 20 years Mr Hobbs has raised hundreds of thousands for good causes including CLIC and St Peter's Hospice and has received a Lord Mayor's charity medal.
