Weston Pier fire cause to be announced
The cause of the fire which destroyed the pavillion at Weston Pier is to be announced today.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service is due to hold a press conference at 11am this morning.

Fire officers are to announce the findings of their report into the fire, which happened on a Monday morning on July 28.
At the time of the fire, it was reported that it started from an electrical fault in an industrial cleaner.
The pier's owner Kerry Michael said at the time "arson had been ruled out" as he reopened the landward end of the pier, just three days after the pavilion was destroyed.
But fire investigators were quick to respond to Mr Michael’s announcement and said they were yet to establish the cause of the blaze.
Later in August, it emerged the blaze may have been burning for five hours before the fire brigade was alerted.
Avon Fire and Rescue said a fire alarm activated at 1.35am on July 28, but crews were not called out until about 6.45am.
The alarm system was linked to a private company which alerts pier employees, a fire service spokesman said.
Today's report will be posted on this website as soon as it is released.

“It was very sad news to hear that the pier had burned down and my immediate thought was well planned arson. I'll be honest I thought to myself the owners have only just aquired this for a huge amount of money and already it's on fire... I like the new plans and I think with the pier and the tropican being rebuilt this will make Weston great again. But if the pier is sold within 10 years then personally I think this whole thing stinks.”

“Okay, it's time the truth came out.
The fire was started when 2 of the extremely talented singers from Girlband went to the opening of the wonderful new Cabot Circus shopping complex and decided that it was a perfect place to hold a protest about the way in which Jamie Cooper was being treated after his return from Iraq. Suddenly the other 2 'singers' (the Chinese ones I think) turned up to hold a different protest about their favourite TV show, Casualty, being moved to Cardiff. Tempers flared, hair was pulled, faces were scratched and things started getting nasty but, luckily, a deaf talent scout was there and said 'Girls, you are far too talented to be wasting time fighting. Take your talent to the end of the pier show at WSM.' And so they did, but before the story could end happily someone with a match heard them singing and decided to burn the pier down in the hope of taking them with it.
What a day for the Bristol Evening Post that turned out to be!”

“Core, Mike BEP haven't even had a chance to put a story in on Girlband and you are already talking about it. the comments left are just as boring and repetative as the stories that are written. do you think about nothing else. this article is about the fire at Weston Pier not Girlband!”
