The Wessex Grand National, for British and international competitors of yesteryear, due to take place at Foxhill Motor Park, Swindon, on May 2-3, has been postponed.

Bristol promoter Phil Steadman said: "Entries failed to materialise, and this, coupled with the cost of hiring the circuit, meant we could not justify going ahead."

The Bath Classic Club have a good entry for their first meeting of the year at Yatton Keynell on Sunday.

Andy Robertson, from Wales, is competing with local rider David Bell, Reading's Adrian Cox, Tim Manton, Tim Dallaway, Peter Jerred.

There is more high-speed action in Wiltshire the same day as the quarter-mile sprint season kicks off with a NSA Championship meeting on part of the former road race circuit at Keevil.

Many regular class winners will be there, including Tony Davidge, Peter Ford, Alan Tinnion and Steve Rees.

On the trials scene, the BSSA have a timed and observation event at Hanham Mills tomorrow evening, and Mendip Vale are running an observation only event at East Horrington, near Wells, on Sunday.
