Bristol City goalkeeper Chris Weale admits he has had a frustrating season but insists he will only assess his long-term future at the end of the season.

Weale has been number two to Adriano Basso for most of the campaign and it is only now he has rejoined former club Yeovil Town on loan that he has got a regular run of games.

In three matches with the Glovers, Weale is yet to concede a goal and Terry Skiverton's side have pulled out of the League One relgation zone with Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Northampton.

Weale is on loan at Huish Park for another two weeks but, as he is a goalkeeper, he could be recalled at any time should Gary Johnson need him.

"It has been frustrating," admitted Weale. "From the start of the season I came in to the team twice and basically got dropped twice in the first ten games.

"Maybe I felt it was harsh but Basso is a very good goalkeeper and the fans love him at Bristol City and he has got a good record. I understood that he was number one but I have got so much belief that I always think I will get in myself.

"Obviously I might have to assess the situation in the summer because I am out of contract but I will just wait and see what happens.

"To be honest all I am focussed on is Yeovil and if I get called back I get called back and if I don't I don't. That's all I can do in football – take each game as it comes.

"The future is out of my hands. I am really pleased to be playing after a hard time at Bristol City, not playing and being injured and sitting on the bench."

Weale's hero status at Yeovil has been re-confirmed with the Glovers fans regularly singing his name.

"It is nice to hear your name being sung again," he said. "You believe in your ability but it makes all the hard work and effort rewarding.

"You are in the gym and waiting for your chance and you know it will come and you know you will take it when it comes and it is just nice to say thanks to the fans. Hopefully it will continue."

Weale also praised the work of Yeovil's goalkeeping coach for helping him get mentally right to play first-team football again.

"I want to say thank you to Len Bond, who has been excellent with me from when I came here. He keeps talking to me and keeps me concentrated and it has been a pleasure to work with him.

"The manager (Skiverton) said you can only do so much as a goalkeeper. I looked at the position in the league but I knew the manager here and I knew he would get the best out of the players and bring fresh ideas and fresh players in.

"I felt it was just a matter of time that the results would turn round so it was probably the right time to come in.
