Warmley retain their faultless record by beating Boco
Hanham Minor League Under-11s: Warmley Rangers maintained their 100 per cent winning record in Division B by beating a skilful and committed AEK Boco side 5-1 on aggregate.
Boco made the most of the wind at their backs by taking the lead from a corner, but Warmley hit back immediately when George Haynes latched on to a Charlie Knight through ball to bring the scores level.
Rangers continued to defend well and edged in front when Jason Peach crossed for Callum Purver to sweep home just before half-time.
Boco pressed hard in the second half but could find no way through a resolute Rangers defence, which was marshalled well by Ben Webb and Charlie Knight as Warmley held on for a 2-1 win.
Boco started the second game strongly, forcing Warmley keeper Adam Bishton into a smart save at his near post.
Warmley defended well in the face of a strong wind, with Sam Bailey and Lakelan Houghton catching the eye in midfield, and they broke the deadlock early in the second half with a terrific strike from Jordan Sirl.
Cash Vinnal doubled the lead, converting from the penalty spot after he had been pulled down in the box, and Houghton rounded off an excellent performance – and a 3-0 win – with a fierce strike off the underside of the bar.
Nicholas Wanderers maintained their unbeaten run in Division A with a whopping 19-0 victory over Brislington.
With Sean Marvin keeping another clean sheet, most of the damage was done in the first game as goals from James Morton (4), Jacob Leeworthy (3), Callum Fudgell (2), Xavier Nicastro (2), Sam Iles (2), Sami Karahan and Joe Hanhauser handed them a 15-0 win.
Without a recognised goalkeeper to call upon in game two, defender Jared Ford was pressed into action between the sticks as Wanderers completed the romp with a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Kwyn Gilbert (2), James Kautz and Sam Delve.
Splendid defensive displays by Jordan Gilbert and Terry Wise helped see Wanderers home unscathed, while Brislington had excellent keeper Billy Davies to thank for ensuring the margin of defeat was not greater.
Solid peformances by Jake Nicholls, Jasmine Clifton and keeper Stan Hill in the second game helped ease Longwell Green Sports to a 4-2 success at Shirehampton Colts.
After a goalless first half, a team reshuffle saw Longwell push Will Cole upfield and he put his team 1-0 up in game one. Shire equalised soon afterwards and levelled again with the last kick of the game after Longwell had reclaimed their advantage with a goal from busy midfielder Lewis Bartlett.
Shire's goals came from Alex Veale and Marcus Badlam, while Adam Brookes, Eli Britton, Luke Elliott and Jamie Nash all played well for Longwell.
Midfielder Luke Wilshire scored from Jasmine Clifton's corner to give Longwell the lead in the second match and only a super save by the Shire keeper denied them a second goal.
Longwell's pressure finally paid off when Kristian Richards was pushed up front to fire the second goal and complete a 2-0 win.
Surging runs from Longwell's Wilshire and star man Thomas Sprules created numerous chances for Charlie Dunn and Nicholls, who drilled narrowly wide of target in the closing minutes.
