Corner peg 24 came up with a winning weight for Gary Wall in the Avon Angling Midweek Open, which was fished at Avalon Fisheries, West Hay, near Glastonbury.

The Team Landsend A member poled paste at 13 metres centre and weighed- in a 16-carp catch totalling 81-15-0.

Bathampton rod Leon Hubbard came second with an 11-carp catch of 75-11-0 taken from peg 39 with waggler, pole and paste.

Mosella's Tony Rixon used a 6mm banded pellet at peg 42 to tempt an 11-carp catch of 55-4-0.

Avon Angling's Joe Thompson emerged as the best participant from the silverfish category with 4-12-0 of small skimmers taken from the island margins of peg 32 with feeder and chopped worm.

Result – Overall: 1, Gary Wall (Team Landsend) 81-15-0, peg 24; 2, Leon Hubbard (Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics) 75-11-0, peg 39; 3, Tony Rixon (Mosella Avon Angling) 55-4-0, peg 42; 4, Mike West 50-7-0, peg 40; 5, Phil Harding (Avon Angling) 48-4-0, peg 28; 6, Steve Tanner 42-8-0, peg 44. Silverfish: 1, Joe Thompson (Avon Angling) 4-12-0, peg 32.
