Volunteers needed for new Bristol charity shop
Volunteers are needed to help run a new charity shop in Kingsdown.
Despite the credit crunch, St Peter's Hospice is about to open its latest shop at 147A St Michael's Hill and is appealing for people to help work in the shop and donate any unwanted goods.
The shop, which opens next Wednesday, is the 48th for the charity which cares for adults with incurable illnesses. It will be manned from 9.30am to 5.30pm before the opening for anyone who has anything to donate.
The shop will need to be stocked and can accept the following items: ladies', men's and children's clothes; shoes; bags; accessories; bric-a-brac; books; DVDs and CDs; toys and games.
There is space in front of the shop to pull up and make donations but if anyone is unable to get to the shop they can call the collection hotline on 0800 583 0015 where goods will be collected free of charge.
Safron Chapman, area manager for the new shop, said: "St Peter's Hospice has been interested in opening a shop in Kingsdown for a few years and we are delighted to have finally found a suitable location.
"Many people in this area will know someone who has been affected by the hospice, a family member, friend or work colleague, so we are hoping that the local community will really get behind us and make it a big success. We are looking for a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to work alongside our manager to ensure we can raise as much money as possible for the hospice.
"Volunteer shop work is varied, rewarding and worthwhile, a good sense of humour is always valuable and our shops are a great place to meet new friends."
Anyone wishing to become a volunteer should contact Safron on 0779 360 6197.
