Violinist Vanessa-Mae will play at Westonbirt Arboretum, near Bristol, next summer.

Tickets are on sale on Friday for the concert, which is expected to be a sell-out.

It is being held as part of the annual Forestry Commission open-air performances

Vanessa-Mae – pictured – is the youngest violinist to record the Tchaikovsky and Beethoven violin concertos and had three classical albums to her credit when she was 13.

Worldwide sales of her albums have topped 10 million, earning more than 40 international platinum awards, and she is working on her next album, which is due for release in 2009.

Vanessa-Mae has worked with Janet Jackson and Prince, performed on the soundtrack of the Disney animated film Mulan, played Bach for the Royal Family and played her violin as she modelled a wedding dress at a Jean-Paul Gaultier fashion show in Paris.

The forest tour of concerts is part of the Forestry Commission's efforts to combine different kinds of music with stunning settings.

Money raised is put back into environmental and social projects.

Vanessa-Mae's concert is on Saturday, July 18, and tickets cost £30.
