A VILLAGE looks likely to be left without public toilets after its parish council decided not to take them over.

North Somerset Council is to withdraw the £400,000 it currently spends on running 29 public conveniences across the district in April and is asking town and parish councils to take over responsibility.

But Yatton's public toilets, at the bottom of the High Street, will not be kept on and will shut from April.

Yatton Parish Council clerk, Crispin Taylor, said: "The parish council felt that the current level of usage at the toilets did not justify the cost of keeping them open."
