Victorious Trump eyeing Crucible slot
Keynsham's Judd Trump is one game away from qualifying for the final stages of the World Championships after thrashing Joe Delaney in his first qualifying match last night.
The 19 year-old, who is world No 41, booked a clash with Stephen Lee at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield following his 10-1 demolition of Delaney.
"To reach the Crucible would be absolutely massive for me," said Trump.
"The World Championships is the biggest event on the calendar, everybody wants to make sure they are there.
"I was struggling a bit early on (against Delaney), but I managed to settle into the match and play some good snooker."
Trump, who beat Ronnie O'Sullivan at the Grand Prix in Glasgow earlier this season, led 8-1 at the end of the afternoon session yesterday.
He completed the win by rocketing in a century and a half-century break in the final two frames.
Delaney had brief chances to stage a fight-back, but when he missed Trump capitalised in stunning fashion.
Trump must now wait until Monday to face Trowbridge potter Lee.
He added. "I can get some more practice in ahead of the match, have a few days off and come back here refreshed ready for what will be a tough match."
