Victorian way of life returns to Bristol school
Children at a south Bristol school turned the clock back more than a century for a Victorian Day.
Many of the 288 pupils aged three to 11 and their teachers at St Peter's Church of England Primary in Highridge dressed in period costume and took part in 19th century-style lessons.
A beef stew was served for lunch and the children enjoyed traditional playground games such as hoops and skipping.
A spokesman for the school, which was formed last year following the merger of Highridge Infant and Bishopsworth Junior schools, said: "It was brilliant. The children looked wonderful and they really got into the spirit of the day."
