Vicar installed as honorary canon at Bristol Cathedral
The vicar at St Peter's Church in Henleaze is to be installed as an honorary canon at Bristol Cathedral in recognition of his work in the city.
The Rev Mark Pilgrim, who has worked in Bristol for 22 years, will be installed in a ceremony on Saturday, May 2. He has worked at St Peter's for seven years, and before that was a curate in Whitchurch and a vicar in Bedminster Down.
There are currently 24 honorary canons in the Bristol Diocese, who represent different aspects of the city and have been recognised for their service in the area.
Their duties include attending an annual meeting to report back on how things are in their area of the city.
Mr Pilgrim said: "It is nice to have been chosen for this privilege – it is nice to be appreciated and to be affirmed in what you are doing by the Bishop."
Also being installed on Saturday are The Rev Nicholas Hay, chaplain at Ashfield Prison, Carolyn Buckeridge, Child Protection Officer for the Diocese of Bristol, and a vicar from Swindon.
The event, at 3.30pm, is open to everyone.
