Vandalised Bristol Banksy mural repaired
A Bristol mural by graffiti artist Banksy has been painstakingly repaired after it was defaced.
As reported by the Bristol Post on Monday, red paint was splattered across the Mild, Mild West art work which has adorned a wall in Stokes Croft for ten years.

Vandalised Bristol Banksy mural Mild Mild West has been repaired
One of Banksy's early pieces, it shows a Teddy bear aiming a Molotov cocktail at police.
An organisation called Appropriate Media, an anti-graffiti group, claimed responsibility for the vandalism and has called for the "appropriate and legitimate use of public and private property".
But local group the People's Republic of Stokes Croft, which is in favour of street art, cleaned up the mural.
Chairman Chris Chalkley said: "We had to take a decision quickly about a response, as the paint was drying as we deliberated.
"We consulted passers-by, the street drinkers and other members of PRSC. The verdict was unanimous that we should attempt a repair, so we got to work."
Other graffiti below the mural was also repaired.
It is thought the vandals struck the Banksy mural late on Sunday night or early Monday.
It was the second time the mural had been damaged in two weeks.

“What a weird world we live in. Banksy does graffiti, its called 'art', anyone else does the same thing, its called vandalism and defacement.”

“The fact that Banksy's work 'has meaning' does not alter the fact that it amounts to criminal damage under the law if it has been done without the consent of the owner. In this respect, it is no different from the chalk drawings which caused so much controversy a week or two ago.”

“so an anti graffiti group deface the graffiti (I call it art) with graffiti... it doesn't make sense! In other cities they have covered Banksy's work with perspex glass why dont we do that? - And for people who call it graffiti Banksy's work has meaning behind it and is admired by millions over the world so stop moaning and get over it.”

“"Public and private property"?
Wlel, if it's public property, they should consult with the public. If it's private, they should speak to the owner.
Just another bunch of muppets looking for an excuse to annoy people.”

“Appropriate Media - a bunch of prats.
I guess because giant billboards are legal, then they are ok and should not be defaced/brought down?”
