“Hi Terry
Your comments may have been tongue in cheek but were still a little venomous and I thought warranted a reply.
I know the cricket is in Cardiff but glamorgan are affiliated to the english cricket board, being a sporting person you'd know that, the only thing is the world cup bid is by the English FA and not the welsh FA which Cardiff are affiliated to so no bid from there then.
I don't really like cricket but I hope you enjoy it during the summer, which is what I'd like to do in the summer of 2018 in my home city (if I make it).
Gary in Kingswood.
I know the whole sporting field was not covered fairly in that video as I've said. but these remarks about senior club are rather tedious. Here are the facts BRFC joined the football league in 1921 and have held their registration since then although did seek re-election twice. BCFC joined the league in1897 and have held their registration since then, even though what you refer to is a change of parent company in 1982 the registration carried on. City are the only club to have played league football in Bristol consecutively since 1897 I fail to see how Rovers could be classed as the senior club, unless someone is having a senior moment. (tongue in cheek)”

“Richard from naul, my comments were made tongue in cheek, do you really think i would sit down and vote 107 times, you may have the time i dont. With regards to Cardiff being in Wales i know as i went there once. If you are a sporting person you would also realise that even though Cardiff is not in England the national cricket team kick off the Ashes test series against Australia there later this month.”

“Unless that video is changed to not just include Bristol's senior football club (by some 99 years) but also the two professional sporting institutions that have actually won something on a national level (i.e. Bristol rugby and Glos CCC) then I'm afraid that I will be another ex-supporter of the World Cup bid.
For the past two weeks we have been drip fed by the Post how great this is for the whole city of Bristol. The only conclusion I can derive from that video is actually how great it is for Bristol City FC. And as one of the majority of Bristolians who aren't City fans I do not want one penny of public money going to this project until there is clarification as to who this will benefit.”

“I think for all you bristolians who approved this venture i think BCC have just shot you in the foot. Not a single image of blue anywhere.Ive heard for a couple of months how this was a bid for the whole of Bristol but apparently not,We too are proud of our city and fanatical about football so surely a local derby or rovers being promoted could be in there
Also as it is a WORLD CUP and bristol being a multi national city there were no real images of other cultures either
Anyway i can get to Birminghamin 90 mins, they got my vote”

“Well, well as a supposed "blue" biased newspaper and not one reference to the senior professional football club of our great city for a World Cup football bid. Evening post this is the best example of a no news article to beat the lot. How can you make a bid for Bristol without even showing one piece of soccer action from a local derby between our two clubs?”

“If BCFC were not trying to get a new stadium do you think Bristol would have applied to be a host city? The whole World Cup bid is a deflection from the real agenda and I am not fooled by it. I feel sorry for some of you lot that have fallen into the hype. Even if we had the stadium/stadia already, would you trust the BCC to pull it off? Don't make me laugh!”

“Terry.
How on earth did you manage to vote for Plymouth who are not a choice and Cardiff who are not a choice and not even in England?”

“The question here is, have Rovers had anything to do with the bid?
The silence from Bristol Rovers football club has been deafening surrounding this bid, you would have thought by now they would have said they are or are not supporting the bid (they could gain from it).
Apart from a few Rovers fans that have expressed their support on these pages (and were very sensible) not to mention that diehard gashead Ian Hollaway, the majority have knocked the bid.
So, are the sensible minority representative of Rovers ? or the the silent parent club and it's more vocal anti city and susequently anti world cup reresentatives?
Personally I think it's a shame Rovers fans aren't depicted on the video.
Or was it a gaff by the makers?
I don't think it could have been intentional.”

“It's very one sided. Bristol does have two major football teams.”

“That video is a tad biased in all fairness. I live near the memorial stadium but I just support Bristol altogether. But that video isn't about Bristol altogether-its about Bristol city. What about the rovers fans? I think that vid has just cost us the world cup bid. Well done BCC.”
