    “Amazing
No mention of the enterprise zone in which the arena site and the post office site sit.No mention of the fact that the land was under the control of the Regional (NON) development agency under the last government. The sites are now under the control of the local enterprise partnership which is a partnership between business and the local councils (including of course BCC ). The Bristol LEP was recently adjudged no 1 out of 37 nationally by the Financial Times.

Whoever the new mayor is the land and money are there to deliver the arena.

We are told in this video that the mayor has no power over the carriageworks or the island sites.

1 The present cabinet has already authorised compulsory purchase on both sites and although the island site may make progress anyway if either site needs it compulsory purchase is exactly what will happen unless a Labour administration halts priogress as they did before. Community consultation has already progressed on the carriageworks.

2 Although it is true that extra grand powers that were promised may not appear we would all be very surprised if the mayor had less power than the present council. Why therefore report that the mayor would not have power.”

“Would it have been to much for Ian Onions to button up his shirt and do up his tie properly? Very disappointing!”
