Urgent appeal by charity runner
A FUNDRAISER running from John O'Groats to Land's End is making a desperate plea for help after his support driver pulled out of the gruelling challenge.
Martial arts instructor Phil Newman, from Kingswood, aims to run about 1,000 miles in just 28 days, starting on Monday.
But he desperately needs a replacement driver with a large van who can take him up to Scotland this weekend, then travel with him while he runs about 36 miles a day.
Mr Newman, 52, is doing the challenge in aid of The Special Friends Club.

He said: "As it stands, I'm going to have to get a coach or train up to Scotland and will have to start running the route on my own. If anything goes wrong, I could be in trouble."
The Special Friends Club operates throughout Bristol and South Gloucestershire, is run by parent volunteers and supports families of children with a broad range of needs and disabilities.
Mr Newman, of Grace Drive, chose the charity as one of his partner Jackie Lewis' children, 12-year-old Kyran, has severe autism.
