The Post

REGARDING the proposed development of the former Bristol and West sports ground.

As an owner of a property directly above these grounds I wish to draw attention to the following:

This land is not a brown field site ripe for regeneration but is actually a green field site of national and international conservation importance.

The flooding of this land would ruin an important wildlife habitat.

In my opinion the wave pool is not environmentally friendly, is not green and would consume a great deal of energy.

The operation of a commercial wave pool at the proposed location would contravene Local Plan policies intended to protect an open green space at the entrance to the Avon Gorge.

The proposed business would be using venture capital and as this development is certainly a risky one I believe the chances are that when it failed it would then leave the site open to being used by some other equally unsuitable commercial venture.

Most importantly of all the site falls within the Sneyd Park Conservation Area, a wildlife site which is designated as historic landscape and as such should be guarded and protected.

Name and address supplied

THIS is not a brilliant idea. The proposal to develop a high energy consuming wave pool business on the site of the former Bristol and West Sports ground is totally unsuitable.

The commercial investment could never be justified without other attractions on such a small site.

Traffic flow to and from the busy Portway would be extremely dangerous and a disaster waiting to happen.

This is a conservation area in the beautiful Avon Gorge making it a spectacular entrance to Bristol.

It should remain a quiet, green, open space for wildlife as an extension to the existing Nature Reserve.
