University will become central to fight against online fraud
A NATIONAL research centre aimed at combating internet fraud is to be based in Bristol.
Experts from the Government's GCHQ spy centre have chosen the city to be the home of the centre which will specialise in dealing with the threat of cyber crime.
The Bristol Security Centre will be based at Bristol University and will have the job of training the next generation of cyber experts. The project will also play a pivotal role in helping to make the government and business more secure against online attacks.
The university was chosen by GCHQ to be an Academic Centre for Excellence in Cyber Security Research to support the government's in its campaign to protect the country from security threats and promote online business.
