United beaten by early strike
MANGOTSFIELD United went down to a 14th-minute strike by Michael Charles for promotion favourites Poole Town.
After dominating the opening exchanges, which saw a Michael Walker header cleared off the line, Poole took the lead when leading scorer Michael Charles guided the ball past goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer following a pass from Warren Byerley.
Mangotsfield were dealt a blow on 26 minutes when right-back Neil Arndale was forced from the pitch with concussion.
Mangotsfield had first-half chances through Todd Winter, Ryan Bath and a Lee Marshall header, before a strong finish from the hosts saw Steve Devlin hit the woodwork and Walker have a second header cleared off the line.
