Unfortunate Mangotsfield must try again
TRURO CITY 1 MANGOTSFIELD UNITED 1: Mangotsfield United had victory snatched away from them by Truro City, who scored an injury-time equaliser to earn an FA Cup replay at Cossham Street on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Disappointed United boss Phil Bater said: "We were much the better side and their late equaliser was hard to take as there was no doubt that it was intended as a cross.
"Our back four was outstanding, while the midfield quartet all played well.
"It was a game that we should have won, but it is now up to us to show the same form in the replay".
Mangotsfield were left short on the substitutes bench when Luke Prosser and Jason Wood both dropped out with injuries, but they still acquitted themselves well.
Truro included Torquay United's Lee Hodges, who has joined them on a three-month loan, while Mangotsfield had experienced defender Neil Arndale back in the starting line-up after recovering from injury.
Neither side looked dangerous in the opening 45 minutes, but things picked up after the interval with Mangotsfield settling down to push their high-flying Premier Division opponents onto the back foot.
Daine O'Connor twice went close to giving Mangotsfield the lead before they went ahead in the 78th minute.
A long-range effort from midfielder Geraint Bater was only parried by goalkeeper Martin Rice and the ball fell to Dan Spill, who scored from close range.
Mangotsfield looked to be on their way to a shock victory until Stewart Yetton's mis-hit cross ended up in the net in the closing minutes to earn Truro a replay.
