Gerry Brooke takes a look at a new picture book by Ian Bishop

That collector of old Somerset photos and postcards, Ian Bishop, must be working overtime.

Coming hard on the heels of Around Timsbury, a further publication, Around Nailsea, breaks new ground by covering the North Somerset area.

The pictorial journey begins just beyond the Bristol boundary, at Long Ashton, in fact, where you’ll find two memorable pictures of the 500 year old Angel Inn, and then moves on along the A370 to cover Flax Bourton and the four, once separate communities that now make up the large village of Backwell.

Beyond Wraxall and then, of course Nailsea, Ian allows us just a few glimpses of Walton and Weston in the beautiful Gordano valley.

Perhaps we can see more of Gordano, and possibly Portishead too, in a future publication

If you can’t find it in the shops then Around Nailsea by Ian Bishop can be obtained from the author at: First Floor Offices, Westway Garage, Marksbury, Bath BA2 9HN.

The book costs £7.50 in person or £9.00 to include post and packing.

Please ring Ian on: 01761 471667 for more details.
