Survive needs new volunteers

BRISTOL / SGLOS: Survive provides high-quality services to women and children affected by domestic violence in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

We need volunteers to support women and children in our refuges or in the community, to work in reception and administration and in fundraising and promotional work

We provide full training, childcare costs and expenses in return for your time and commitment.

Take calls and befriend

Bristol: Womankind, Bristol women's therapy centre, seeks volunteers to train in the autumn for our telephone helpline or as Befrienders.

Mental health support

Changes Bristol runs mutual help and support groups for people experiencing mental distress and we are currently looking for new volunteers to co-ordinate the groups.

Our 12-week training programme starts in September 2009. Having completed the course, you would then work on a rota basis with another co-ordinator to run one of our weekly groups. We offer training, support, out of pocket expenses and the opportunity to develop your skills and build your knowledge.

We expect you to attend all the training sessions, facilitate one of our weekly groups and commit to working with us for a year.

Festival volunteers

BRISTOL DIAL-A-RIDE: Volunteer minibus drivers required for Glastonbury Festival and other local events. Full training provided and volunteer expenses paid.

Volunteers are urgently needed by the PRT Carers Centre for the evening telephone listening service –Share With A Carer.

Make yourself heard

FILTON: The Filtones are on the lookout for altos, tenors and basses to join their choir for the over-50s, who perform for pensioners' clubs and charities around Bristol.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons in Filton.

KNOWLE: Volunteers are needed at Age Concern at the Knowle shop.

Come and meet our friendly volunteers and join in the fun. Work for a good cause. Any time you can spare would be most appreciated. Various jobs to do.

Families under stress

Bristol: Parents and grandparents are wanted to volunteer three or four hours each week to visit stressed families with children under five in their own homes.

Funds for hospice

Bristol: The Children's Hospice South West is recycling old mobile phones to raise funds towards the new hospice at Wraxall.

Fund-raising support

Bristol: The Frenchay After Burns Children's Club is looking for volunteers willing to support its fundraising efforts.

The charity rehabilitates young burns survivors who have been treated at Frenchay Hospital, but it receives no funding from North Bristol NHS Trust.

It is keen to hear from people willing to organise their own fundraising events, or who may be able to encourage sponsorship or donations from their employers.
