In the spotlight: Carlisle United

Like his Rovers counterpart Paul Trollope, Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott has some selection dilemmas ahead of tomorrow's game.

Abbott handed a few fringe players an outing during the Cumbrians' 3-1 win at Chesterfield in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy – and was rewarded with a come-from-behind 3-1 win as United made it three wins and a draw from their last four outings.

The manager praised the contribution from substitutes Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Peter Murphy and Richard Offiong after the game, but says he's been handed his biggest headache by the display of former non-league keeper Adam Collin.

Former Chelsea and Millwall keeper Lennie Pidgeley, a summer signing from the Docklands club, has played every league game, but Abbott acknowledged: "Adam has given me a bigger problem than anyone else because his performance on Tuesday was outstanding. His handling was good, he had great presence, he made a couple of good saves – he was top drawer. There is a decision to be made now.

"I'm not ruling him out of Saturday because he has played himself right into the frame."

Young midfielder Adam Clayton, on loan from Manchester City, scored his first senior goal in the win over the Spireites, and Abbott also has to decide whether to stick with him or recall the vastly more experienced Graham Kavanagh. Up front, too, he has the option of sticking with former Bristol City product Joe Anyinsah and Cameroonian Vincent Pericard, or bringing back joint leading scorer Scott Dobie, who sat out the midweek encounter in Derbyshire.

Abbott said: "We go to Bristol in good spirits, with a game plan and a lot of confidence. We won't be going there to stand back for a draw just to keep the unbeaten run going. We are going there for the win and to cause Bristol Rovers problems."
