Heart-rending tributes have been pouring in to two friends who died when their car was involved in a head-on crash with a lorry in Bath.

Neil Barham, 30, from Portishead, near Bristol, was killed when the Audi he was driving smashed into an HGV at 2.40am on Saturday at the junction of Lower Bristol Road and Bellotts Road, Bath.

His passenger, 29-year-old Marc Warman, from Whiteway, Bath, was critically injured and died on Tuesday morning at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

Dozens of bouquets and poignant notes had been left at the site of the crash. Friends of the pair daubed a nearby wall with RIP messages, their names, birth and death dates in graffiti.

On the social networking internet site, Facebook, grieving friends shared fond memories of the pair in online groups set up in their honour.

One friend, Shelley Webb, wrote: "Terrible loss of two brilliant blokes, fun to be around and amazing people.

"Will miss you both loads, you will never be forgotten x xx x"

In the tribute group 'Marc Warman was a legend', Shauna Cliffe wrote: "R.i.p Marc, you will be missed lots. We will never forget you!

"You will live on in your children. God bless m8."

Marc's sister Charleigh Rosevear wrote: "One in a million.

"It's not gonna be the same not having you around to laugh at the tele with or watch scary films with.

"Just so gutted you're gone bro but you're in a better place now and I know that you and Neil will be looking over us all, especially those two little gorgeous babies of yours."

Another, Rose Button, wrote: "RIP Neil... love you with all my heart, I know you will take care of each other always xxxx."

Another of Marc's sisters, Sandie Warman, said she was grateful to have had the chance to be with him at the end and hug him.

She said: "I will miss you sooo much, I loved you more then anything."

Friends variously described the pair as "legends", "one in a million" and said their sudden tragic deaths was a "terrible loss".

Roads in the area were closed while the force's collision investigation unit examined the scene.

Officers investigating the crash said they were keen to speak to anyone who was in Lower Bristol Road at the time who may have information to help with their enquiries, particularly a pedestrian seen near where the accident happened.

Police said the Audi, which was travelling from Bath, had passed Windsor Bridge Road and entered a left hand bend. The car crossed over to the oncoming lane and was involved in a head-on collision with an articulated lorry.

Police believe shortly before the collision, the car had narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Avon and Somerset police's collision investigation unit on 0845 456 7000.
